PARENTS SUCCESSFULLY STAND UP AGAINST PORNOGRAPHIC BOOKS IN THE CHILDREN'S SECTION OF THE SAMUELS PUBLIC LIBRARY AT WARREN COUNTY BOARD OF SUPERVISORS MEETING

On June 6th, a crucial meeting of the Warren County Board of Supervisors was held, marked by the resolute stand of no fewer than 250 parents and citizens. They united to protest the presence of pornographic books in the children's section of the Samuels Library.

The meeting was a notable success, indicative of the power of community action and the importance of standing up for the safety of our children. The Supervisors responded with empathy to the concerns, showcasing the fundamental democratic spirit of our community.

Current candidate for State Senate, John Massoud, stood up and defended the goals of the parents. So did Shenandoah District School Board Candidate Tom McFadden. State Senate candidate James Bergida was also present at the meeting, as was South River District School Board candidate Leslie Mathews, and Shenandoah District Supervisor candidate John Stanmeyer.

"We are deeply heartened by the outcome of the meeting," said a representative parent of the campaign. "This victory is for our children. They deserve a safe and appropriate environment in which they can learn and explore. We are grateful for the Board of Supervisors for hearing our concerns."

Many parents expressed their objections to the inclusion of pornographic books in the children's section of the library. Their testimonies were compelling and had a profound impact on those present at the meeting.

This success signifies a crucial step forward, but it is only the beginning of our mission. Our goals are threefold:

1. Removal of Pornographic Books: We want the pornographic books currently present in the children's section of the library removed, not simply relocated. These materials should not be maintained or acquired using taxpayers' funds. We stress that this is not about banning books, but rather an assertion of our rights as taxpayers. Anyone interested in these books can purchase them with their personal funds.

2. Redefining Library Policies: We advocate for cutting ties with the American Library Association and instituting a new collection development policy that upholds family-friendly and age-appropriate materials. We want this policy to reflect the consensus of the community and hold library personnel accountable if they acquire materials that do not adhere to this policy.

3. Change in Leadership: We believe that the current library leadership and board, who not only purchased but supported children reading these pornographic books, have violated public trust. We are calling for their removal and replacement with individuals who will align their actions with the community's consensus. No adult who threatens the innocence of children should be allowed to work around children or in our library ever again.

Going forward, we pledge to continue this fight to ensure that the children's section of our public libraries provides a safe and enriching environment.

We will work closely with the Board of Supervisors, library administrators, and all concerned stakeholders to achieve these goals.
